The school Safety Patrol Team is an honored position.  Millions of boys and girls have served since the program started in 1920.  Patrols play an important role in securing safety around their school campus.  The primary goals of the Safety Patrol team are to help children walk and cross streets safely, help children become safe pedestrians, and to foster qualities of leadership and good citizenship in members.

The purpose of this organization shall be to recognize students for their outstanding academic achievement and demonstrated personal responsibility, to provide service to the school and community, and to develop leadership skills in the students of elementary schools. ​Students are chosen to belong to NEHS by maintaining a B average GPA and good behavior on and off campus. 

"Girls on the Run" is a program that helps girls build stamina and endurance, as well as self-esteem, and learn about nutrition. The girls learn valuable information that will help them grow to be confident women. 

Attention Girls on the Run: Please make sure you have running clothes, including tennis shoes, and a water bottle. 

FFEA (Florida Future Educators of America) is an ​organization that strives to interest students in the field of education early in their school experience by providing information about careers in education and offering opportunities to participate in experiences that develop the qualities and skills essential for successful teaching. 

Indian River Elementary SGA is an organization for student leadership and community involvement. Officers and representatives are elected by the students of IRES. This is a nationally affilliated organization and a great opportunity for students to acquire leadership skills.

Indian River Elementary Chorus is open to third, fourth, and fifth graders. Activities include weekly rehearsals and school and community performances. Students meet with Mrs. Turner on Thursdays from 2:05 until 3:05 in the Music Room.

The IRES Channel 4 News Crew is a team of outstanding 5th graders who are dedicated to bringing school announcements and information to Indian River every morning. Their time spent each morning is considered volunteer hours and can be used as evidence of citizenship and school community involvement. News Crew appointees are chosen based on their academics and behavior, as well as their interest in broadcasting.  The show is broadcast from the Media Center daily.

The Indian River Manatee Pom Pom Squad is a club full of school spirit!  This club offers students the opportunity to work together getting fit, learning intricate dance routines accompanied by pom work, and show their school spirit at school and community events!  Students will build confidence, coordination, and leadership qualities.   ​

In Garden Club, students will learn about Florida Native Plants, and how to weed, seed and care for the gardens.

The Technology Club is a group of enthusiastic and curious 4^th and 5^th grade students.  These students work with their peers to explore coding with Dot and Dash, OSMO, Bloxels, Code.org or Swift Playgrounds.  Students may also choose to expand on their computer skills using the Office 365 apps available on their VPortal. 

In our fast-paced world, students deal with distractions, overstimulation and different types of pressures. The Yoga Club allows students to listen and respond to their own bodies by using their breath, move their bodies in purposeful ways to increase concentration and learn how to be kind to themselves and others. The group participates in non-competitive activities and learns strategies to combat the pressures in life through peaceful solutions.
